HW-101 Belt Info

I did a little research and it seems that the standard o-ring size 2-226 is
the proper replacement for the HW-101 driver preselector belts. This gives
about 10% stretch in the installed position. The size 2-227 (a bit larger)
may also work, but I don't have one to test at this time.

I'm using o-rings made of a silicone formulation. This material should last
longer than the original belts. Most stores carry buna-n which tends to crack
with age, but any material will work, this isn't really a critical
application.

O-rings of any size are easy to find, look for distributors of hydraulic
equipment or ball bearings, they usually represent large manufacturers of o-
rings, such as Parker and Apple (not the computer guys).

I've often wondered why Heath chose to use dial cord on the final load
capacitor, but I'm willing to bet there is an o-ring size that would fit that
as well.

I hope this is useful for someone out there, and if anyone needs more
information on this topic, let me know, I'm glad to help.

73,
Steve
