The consensus on the reason for the length specification on the RG-62A/u coax cables is
due to the loading effects on the osciallators and the impedance matching.
Many have used RG-58/59A/U of varying lengths without deleterious effects to the
equipment ops and others have used RG-62A/U of varying lengths for same reason.
One person stated that the 2 feet was the minimum. From this, and from persual of skizz
and head scratching, my conclusion is that extending the lengths using RG-62A/U (or
using -58/59 as a substitute) will not be a problem save need to retune/realign the
301/401.
Any last comments/thoughts before I cut, snip, solder, and tune?
Thanks for all the replies both public and private.. Once again.. the gang proves it's
true colors by living the Amateurs' Code!
