SB-102 with Lo-Pass filter

The PI network output of the more modern rigs is indeed a low pass filter.
However, nothing made by man is perfect. The PI net output tank is no
exception and is more or less a compramise, depending on how heavily the rig
is loaded. Loading the rig very heavily could result in the "working Q"
being so low as to permit some unwanted signals to get to the antenna and
be radiated. With a low-pass filter in the line, those unwanted or spurious
componants of the signal would be reduced many more dB. I have 3 lowpass
filters, 1 kw B&W, 1 kw Bud, and a 300 watt Drake. One is always in line
when I'm on the air. It may not do any good, but sure is good insurance.
Hope this helps. 73 es gud hamming, de
