What is a Heathkit??

Hi all,
    I remember putting together some Bell and Howell kits that I always
figured were really Heathkits.  I don't know maybe those were subcontracted
out.  I put together the HW-202, then later sold it then bought one 20 years
later for $25 at a thrift store where someone had donated it.  It had an
intermittent in the transmitter that took two weeks to identify.
Fortunately the loose coil connection finally sparked while I was looking at
it making for easy identification.
    I remember when I put together the digital multimeter kit I forgot to
solder a few pins on an IC.  That was 22 years ago and I still remember it.
Part of the fun of Heathkits for me was the mystery of how all those parts
were going to fit together.  I like to repair my own electronics and find
the detailed repair information to be very appealing.
