didn't benefit from a realignment, but with most tube equipment, a
realign helps about every five/ten years or so.  When I initially
started collecting Heaths, I did so with the idea I'd probably have to
rebuild most of them via re-kiting; I was wrong.  The majority of my
amateur radio purchases have shown beautiful kit construction; maybe 30%
look like they were done by sclocks.  Everytime I buy a Heathkit, the
first thing I do is open it up when I get home; most of the time, I'm
pleasently surprised.  I think I can state, as a generalization, hams
know what they're doing.  I noticed the same thing when I worked at
Heath--those built by hams were beautiful, those built by non-hams
varied considerably.  If we ever got a Heathkit in on "warrenty", i.e.,
new kit, won't work, and it was built by a ham, we knew it probably had
a bad component, and not a wiring error or bad solder joint...
