Acutally, I got my first HF rig (HW-100) at a hamfest, and was able to
get it on the air with no problems. Not having much in the way of a
test bench, I can't say it was 100% in spec, but it was good enough to
work Japan on 10 right off the bat...
It didn't really go out of spec until my 3-year old snuck into the
shack one day while I was at work ("WOW...KNOBS AND BUTTONS!!!)
...fortunately it was on the dummy load...
