Heath Print Ads

Hi Folks:

I was browsing through my QST-View CD-ROM collection, and had a chance to sift
through some of the old Heath ads. I had forgotten how clever they were.
Here are some examples:

-- "Better than the Hot-Water 100...and a nickel cheaper. The new Heathkit
HW-101". Question: Did Heath actually dropped the price to $249.95, to make
this claim?

-- "Meet the Heathkit Economy Kilowatt pair... Heathkit HW-101 Transceiver...
Heathkit SB-200 1KW Amplifier..."

-- "Who builds the best ssb/cw receiver around?... You do! (When you build the
new HR-1680)."

Who writes print ads like these any more?

Chuck Penson's book is still the definitive Heathkit resource, and the
catalogues are also a great reference. But don't overlook the information
content and interest of these old print ads, which can be found in QST
collections, and now on the QST CD set.

Rob, W3DX
