Howie,
Use De-Solv-It, which can be found in almost any grocery store.
I've used this on just about every finish imaginable, even cleaning
sticker glue off books. I have yet to find anything that it harms.
I had the same trouble with that material, and replaced it with
"normal" white foam plastic.
