D104G CRYSTAL MIKE/hole in cone?

Hi, are the d104 crystal mike cartridges supposed to have a small pinprick
in them on the cone.  I think this could be the problem with the no
modulation on the dx-60.  i am looking for the simple answers first with the
problem.  greg
