Mike Hardie High Voltage Problem

Mike and all;
I tried to send this to Mike as a private message but the system won't
take it, saying there is an error in the format. Just as well; it may be
of interest to others too. If I had that high of voltage I would be on
the phone to the power company twice a day. You might want to point out
to them that they are responsible for paying for damage to your equipment
caused by high voltage, and you have a lot of expensive radio equipment.
I also would send them a bill for 1,000 light bulbs @ $1 each. Might get
their attention. Modern pole pegs are supposed to be SRT (self-regulating
transformer). Either the transformer is defective or (more likely) they
have a loose neutral connection. This happened to me once. The 240 VAC
stayed steady but the 120 VAC legs would vary; one would go up to 135 VAC
and the other go down to 90 Vac. You can check this your self at any 240
volt outlet. check that both legs are close to the same voltage. Thanks.
Regards,
Ed Richards
