AR3 main tuning shaft

For general info; the shaft on my main tuning cap will NOT act as reduction
drive. Perhaps it is an early example, with later ones having the improved
capacitor reduction shaft. Tried oil, penetrating fluid, pliers, etc. to no
avail. The bandspread is of the reduction typae and works fine. Any info on
this? I know several said it was supposed to be a reduction shaft (as I
remember my late 1959 set was), but definitely not on this unit.
