Well said.
Case in point.
I have an SB400 which I acquired about 30 years ago and operated as my only
transmitter for more than 20 years.
I made two modifications to it.
When I first got it, I was a student with very little income and used it
with a Hammurlund receiver. Spotting was very difficult. I added a little
circuit that made perfect spotting a cinch. (it made a little carrier to
zero beat) I put a small switch on the front panel to activate the circuit.
A few years later I acquired an SB303. I added the controls and changed
the wiring to switch LMOs using SB401 parts. I used dry transfer lettering
on the front panel.
I operated my SB400 a couple months ago, and it still works FB.
Some may feel I ruined it. I have no regrets. We used our radios.
