I am pretty sure that "Everclear" which is available at your local
liquor store, is pure 200 proof alcohol. The last government contractor
I worked for (in 1996) used a generic 200 proof (drinking) alcohol to
clean video tape heads and for flux removal on circuit boards after
repair. I currently use plain old drug store 91% alcohol with good
results. The "residue" in 91% alcohol is mostly water.
