5R4 solid state replacements

We did the same thing many years ago for commercial stations, but we
included a resistor in the output (after the diodes) to reduce the surge
to the filter caps and the higher voltage. The value and power rating of
the resistor can be calculated by Ohm's law when you know the current and
voltage drop required. Regards,
