        You might try Goof-off.  It's a major league solvent that you
can get at hardware stores.  There are two varieties, one is water
based (or at least water thinned) and the other is the straight stuff.
Whichever you use, be careful and start on a small, non-visible area.
I was trying to clean up the base on a straight key and it cleaned the
paint right off!  However, I have used it, with care, to clean up the
outside case of a 'scope, so just try it out.
        There is also a solvent called MEK, which you might try if the
Goof Off doesn't do the trick.  Same precautions as before, although
even more so.  And with both, be sure you are in a well ventilated
space because the fumes are definitely NOT good for you.
