6146 et al.

Hi Gang...

   It seems to me that the original design of the HW/SB series equipment
was based upon the specs of the original 6146 (A) tube. I seem to
remember reading a factory service bulletin that recommended the use of
only 6146A tubes (at least for the SB-401). Seems that there might have
been a neutralization problem if other tube series were used. In spite
of the above, I have ran 6146B/8298 in my SB-401 for years with no
problems at all. I don't see any reason why you couldn't pop a set of
6146Bs into the HW-101. Just make sure that they are properly
neutralized.
