Hi Dan-

Sounds like you are *over-LOAD-ing* the amp . . . seriously tho . . . try
two things: (1) put a thru-line SWR between the Heath output and Amp input
. . . this will show whether you have a match problem between the two
units (as suggested by "zero" loading) . . . and (2) try to reduce the
Heath (hence "exciter") output to 70 Watts or less . . . if the
manufacturer says "70 W" try to keep it in that area by reducing the
carrier level when tuning . . .

AND when you get to modulating carefully set your ALC so you don't cause
spurs (splatter) . . . good luck
