Chuck Penson, WA7ZZE, spoke at the Arlington, near Dallas, HamCom '99
over the weekend. He is author of "Heathkit, a Guide to the Amateur
Radio Products," Electric Radio Press, 1995.
I missed his talk for table duties, but saw him just after daybreak in
the outside flea market area Saturday morning. He is tall and articulate
in the same guarded way as Roy Lewallen and other who really know their
stuff, but Chuck was good natured about the typo on page 70 that made a
GR-81a superregenerative RX instead of just regenerative. He said that
one will get fixed in the 2d edition.
A speculation on my part made him produce a pocket computer with the
complete Heath ham line indexed, so don't try to buswhack him.
I did not ask him to comment on the AT-1 with associated boxes that was
offered inside for $1,000. Not sure what anyone could say.
