Question About HR-10 Reciever - Help!

Fellow Heath enthusiasts,
An HR-10 receiver has a problem that has me baffled. The BFO frequency is
"pulled" by strong signals or by changing the RF gain control in its upper
range, sort of like chirp but on a receiver. Switching the AVC off helps
reduce this but it's still there. There's nothing obviously wrong,
voltages check out pretty good except the B+ is a little high, cutting it
back to the prescribed 210 vdc from the 6X4 by inserting a resistor makes
the problem worse. The resistors that should be around the power supply
are all OK and I've replaced the 3 x 20 uF cap. Any ideas?
Mike
