ID-4001 Fault

Gentle Keepers of the Green Gear:
        Ham in local radio club has an ID-4001 WX sta.
I know nothing abt these so here's his question...

"Something has gone wrong with the WX sta. If I plug in the temp.
probe the Inside/Outside Baro. Press. goes 'Wacko', remove the
temp probe, Baro is OK"

That's it.  Now since I know nothing, must be temp probe bad..maybe
"shorted"???..but cud be something gone south on the board , if there
is one, that affects both Temp and Baro....I know nothing..

Any clues for this Seasoned Citizen (No pun intended, ..;o)))
He's a "Man for all Seasons"..gotta stop now
