Regenerative Receivers - Do They Work?

Regens can be very sensitive; I put an FT101 and a 1934 Nat'l SW3 side by
side witha 10 ft ant and the SW3 was more sens, but harder to tune, etc.
Early transister rigs had poor qual;ity transistors and primitive circuitry
for solid stae, in many cases. A FET front end, say GG preamp with a peaking
tuned ckt followed by a FET regen det. and a couple of good bipolar or IC
audio makes a fine, sensitive radio - better with audio filters too- and can
be stable with quality parts and sturdy construction. Suggest CF Rockey's
book on Regen from Lindsay Books (see internet).
