Not true. Mineral oil is essentially inert to the components of the
resistor. I have a dummy load that is 20 years old, and has had the same
mineral oil in it all that time. No change in resistance in that time.

I have a TV engineer friend who claims certain engineers have practically
swam in the stuff with no ill effects.
