Many thanks to all for reply to my request as all have been helpful.
First of all, Heath must have a typo as the schematic calls for 9v. output to serve other functions.  The cross references were most helpful.  The case is TO-220 so ordered a 77809 from Mouser without difficulty and bet it will do the job.
Thanks again to all and don't know what I'd do without you wonderful hams.
