IO-10 Oscilloscope

Hello,
   I have an IO-10 Oscilloscope that a friend gave me.  The only thing that
shows up on the display after turning it on isa verticle line.   Any ideas on
where to start trouble shooting it? I do not know much about scopes...that's
why i got this one, to see if I can't learn a bit more about them.  So please
go easy on me with any info.
