HW-8 VFO capacitor 26-152

Hello all:

I am scheming again. I am looking into investing in having an exact
replacement made for this part by one of the original vendors. I will
probably have to buy 50 or more.

It appears that even at that quantity they will not be able to provide the
copper stator plates. I'm not sure why they used aluminum for the rotor and
copper for the stator unless it was a thermal coefficient of expansion vs.
drift issue.

I am curious how much demand there is for these (whether it's worth my
trouble).

Also, from my observations, it appears that there are very few inquiries for
HW-9 (26-170?) vfo caps, and the only other one I can think of that there is
much call for is the early and late SB-220 Plate Tuning cap.

Your $0.02 will help me determine the feasibility. It looks like at 50
pieces they will cost no more than $20. That's not great, but it may be
better than unavailable as an alternative.

Oh yeah, one mfr. gave me an option for a solution to the @^%@% rotor plates
falling off due to overtorque at end-of-rotation. That would be the addition
of an in-shaft vernier drive with a slip clutch. This would add 1/2" to the
shaft length. I don't know if this is mechanically feasible with the HW-8
dial mechanism. It would add $1-2 per piece to the cost.
