SB-104 Carrier Suppression

Hello Heath Team,
I broke all of my rules a few weeks back and actually bought a Heath solid
state rig. the SB-104a. Being an old tube guy, this was just not like me!
Anyway, the rig is a lot of fun and easy to work on like any Heath rig. I'm
glad I bought it.

One problem my SB- 104 had that it shares with its tube cousins (SB-100,
101, 102, SB-300, 400, HW series) is problems with carrier suppression.
Long story short, the 100 ohm Carrier suppression pot was no good. I could
not get a good adjustment. I went through the tech bulletin stuff and
changed the mentioned capacitors, but in the end, it was the pot. Just like
all those bad pot's I had to change on all of my tube rigs.......

Also, as per Chuck's book, I had other intermittent problems that were
fixed by cleaning all the board contacts/connectors. Also had a bad
transistor in the remote VFO (644) that caused an intermittent
problem.....but that's another story....
