You are correct, it corresponds to the Bypass position of the front switch.
I jerry-rigged mine so that the Bypass actually works as a bypass.

I placed a coaxial T on the bypass connector and have a short length of
RG213 between the Coax 1 output and the T. This lets me use the antenna on
Coax 1 either thru the tuner or bypassed.
