If the core just split in 2,just put some glue like crazy glue or something like that on the allen tool sides and put in core,let dry and un screw,I use metel allen wrench in this case.
the glue may reck your tool.
Or take a small screw driver and pick it .heating the coil from a hair dryer will help in this case.
I have fixed many coils like this over the years.
If the slug doent move ,Doent force the tool you will BREAK the slug!! just heat the core up with a hair dyrer and the slug should break free.Some times wax or glue is used to hold the core inplace after tunning.
Well looks like you need a core or the coil assy.May be hard to find.
Be carefull when tunning old coils.The core can break easy.
