Help w/HW-101

Gang,

I'am rebuilding a HW-101 from 2 or 3 units.

Question: I had to changeout the vfo and do quite a bit of work on it. As it stands now Iam showing 4.000 at the end of the band as it should but it will only go down to about 3.680 or so and then it reaches the end of travel. Of course, if you move the dial down to 3.500 and then "walk" the cal sig down to the same freq. you then have the same problem on the upper end and also by walking it down the freq does not seem to change very much. I have actually never seen the whole band spread out from end to end as it should be.

Should the vfo be removed and then change the dial to a different position on the dial drum or what. All of this adjusting seems like a waste of time cause I know I'm not doing it right.

Also, during vfo alignment it says to adjust the (2) trimmers on the side of the vfo to move the cal. sigs back in range at the low end of the band. This is fine but it fails to tell one which trimmer to start with, back or front one and just how do you determine how far to adjust each one?? Do you adjust one so much and then switch to the other one or what?? I hope someone out there can make sense of my ramblings here and give me some pointers. Thanks very much in advance.
