Keith - I concur.
I installed one in a SB-301 many years ago and finally took it out and
threw it away.**
Of course the buit-in limiter in the SB-301 doesn't work very well
either!! They are all too late in the receiver. They should be in front
of the crystal filter or, as Collins did it, a separate broad-band
receiver.
