Kinda scary, I agree, but I wonder if there is a comparable commercial piece
of equipment and what it costs.

Heath bench power supplies are one item that may have retained significant
value because they are not "obsolete", and have current commercial
"competition".

I think some of the ham eBay prices are a little more irrational.
