Heathkit TV's

I don't know what a GR-2701 TV looks like but I built a GR-2000 in the late
70's. I believe it was 19 circuit boards! Let's not forget chassis wiring
which even though it was a massive harness, was not a trivial task. Add in a
lot of time for alignment, including adjustment of convergence, and you've
got about 2 months of spare time, including weekends. Whew! Still, it was a
pretty good TV. Nice sharp picture. Was pretty reliable too. My father had
that thing going for almost 18 hours daily. Had built-in test equipment so
you could do everything yourself. I built the TV for my father who was
disabled at the time, arthritis being one of his several illnesses which
would eventually take him. He really appreciated the fact the controls were
all push buttons so he could operate it comfortably. The enclosure came from
a nice RCA TV wooden console which had given up the ghost. But you know
what? After putting that TV together, I didn't want to see another kit for a
couple of years. Memories.
