HW-5400: MARS mod Anyone??

Does anyone have the documentation  -  or - has anyone actually DONE the
mod to the HW-5400 that lets it go out of band - into the MARS
frequencies?  My son is on the USS Seawolf (submarine) and I've often
contemplated getting active in MARS, but alas, none of the Heaths I own
can venture into that region.  (There are a few however, that can.  Can
anyone list them for me?)

Does anyone have a MARS capable Heath for sale??
