As a matter of course, I now check resistors in all the old gear I buy. Many
times, they're way off tolerance. I while ago I posted a note addressing
that subject. Those old carbon composition resistors absorb moisture over
time and change value. I'm now rebuilding an SB-101 with carbon film
resistors. That's your best bet. You get those from Digi-Key and others.
They should last the lifetime of the radio or Ham Radio itself as the case
may be. As an aside, does anybody remember the first Digi-Key that appeared
in QST and when? I don't remember off-hand but it was for a digital keyer,
hence the name Digi-Key.

Subject: Restore question

Hello to all, I am thinking about replacing all the resistors in my SB-102,
anybody have any suggestions on what type of resistor to use, carbon/metal.
I have replaced a few, the ones I replaced were way off their mark.

Take care, Mark
