Use of D104 Mike with Heath

My guess is that it's a low impedance output, as are all pre-amplified
microphones. I've seen anywhere from 5K to 10K Ohms or whatever the output
pot is set for. Depends on the design. What I usually do with those is
disable the preamp and go to the microphone cartridge itself. That way
you'll have a high impedance mic just the way the Heathkit Gods intended it.
The D-104 has MORE than enough output and doesn't need the preamp. One of
the reasons they have a preamp in the first place is to more closely match
today's solid-state equipment and also hit the CB market where the
prevailing philosophy apparently is louder is better...NOT!
