I have used a plain D-104 with a crystal element in my HW-101 (same circuit
as a SB101) for 24 years. One thing to do is change the 6EA8 at V1 for a
6CQ8, they are directly interchangeable, but the 6EA8 develops a strange
oscillation and takes a lot more drive from the mic then the 6CQ8. I get
excellent audio reports from my HW-101with the D-104 and the 6CQ8.
