I used a similar setup in 1979. I didn't work too much SSB, most likely
due to the lousy antennas I was using. My biggest problem was getting
enough audio drive.

I think my mike element may have been damaged before I bought it (used).
A few years later, it failed completely.
D104s haven't been made in years. Some guys take the cases and replace
the mike elements with Heil HM-4 or -5 cartridges. Electrically very
different, but it gets more life out of a classic mike stand.
