This works, but...
1) You typically find xfmrs with 117 (or 115 or 120) primaries,
2)there is some inefficiency...depending on the regulation of the
xfmrs, you may get as little as 80% of what you input, under load.
I made an isolation xfmr using the method suggested, and was surprised
how much voltage was lost.
