Jim, et al,
By now you've seen that Doug also advises that he has some of the OEM
style plugs. Switchcraft still makes those as their 3501M, but I don't
think even Doug can say with certainty if that's what his are. (Doug?)
They do look very close to the same.
I don't understand your dislike of the 'two-piece' RCA plugs, unless
you're referring to something from Rat Shack or some other crap. The
Switchcraft 3502 series is a two piece screw-machine plug, not a
stamping, and is the best I've ever used. They also have or had a
version using a Teflon or Rexolite insulator (memory crisis) which was
suitable for RF.
Remember that Switchcraft (and I have no ax to grind here) was the, or
an, OEM vendor of a lot of these parts. RCAs, mic connectors, the
special HV phone plugs and jacks for the VTVMs, that sort of thing. My
past experience with them suggests that they might be willing to produce
a run of one of their obsolete numbers; perhaps even more willing for
several numbers. Any of you fellows who are making repro parts
interested in commissioning some production? And before someone else
says it, no; mine is a service, not manufacturing, business.
Now if we could get Randy to talk Heathkit into rerunning the VTVM
probes, at a reasonable price. How about it Randy?
