Buyer Beware on Ebay

Hi Fellow Greenies. Checking the feedback even when it's all positive may
not guarantee honesty, read on. I got taken by a clown on ebay who sold
several small <100$ items to his friends who posted great feedback for
him. Then he listed several high dollar ham radios in "excellent
condition" and took several ebay hams for lots of bucks. The equipment he
shipped was non-working junk, my item was listed as "excellent
condition", it reality it looked like the delivery service dragged it to
my QTH. He's no longer on ebay but there are plenty of crooks who
replaced him. I now check the feedback but more importantly I check how
long the person has been on eBay.  Short timers can be a risky deal.
Even using eBay's escrow service doesn't guarantee anything, one ham sold
a like new linear on eBay for top dollar, the seller used escrow for
protection, however, the linear was returned as not working and the buyer
threatened negative feedback unless the money was returned. The buyer
swapped out the bad parts from his linear. His total cost for all new
parts was the return shipping. And so it goes, 73's Ken
