It is possible to remove the contact from the switch
and replace it with one from another. I have done
this numerous times. You will have to obtain a very
small screw (probably from an optical source - mall
operation, etc.).
Just remove a contact from an unused switch by
carefully drilling out the rivit. Then do the same
thing with the switch in the DX-40. Replace the
contact with the new one, holding it in place with the
screw (actually a "bolt").
You might want to put some solder over the nut to hold
it permanently.

Does anyone know where a guy might find one of these?
