heath hd1250 grid dip meter bugs

Hola...

one more project on the bench.

I have a 1250 grid dip meter that needs some help.

on the higher bands, i.e. 25 mhz and up the thing seems to work. I get
plenty of meter deflection and I can hear the meter on a receiver.

when I put in a lower frequency coil, nothing happens. no meter no signal.

yes, checked the coils and they are all good.

any ideas?

got the circuit from the web, it's simple enough..

anyone have a spare manual?
