Heath SB-200 on AM

Hi Ken...

A good rule of thumb---assuming the amplifier is biased for class B
operation---is that the carrier output for AM linear service is HALF of the
total plate dissipation, ex. if the tube used has a plate dissipation rating
of 100 watts, you can run it at 50 watts in AM linear service with relative
safety.

What I do with my HB 2x813 linear is load it up as usual, then crank down
the drive until the output is 125 watts...then I tweak the plate tuning
capacitor (watching for maximum RF output), & leave it there.

BTW, I monitor my signal at all times on an SB-610 'scope, too.
