GR 78

Hi, Bill;

I have aligned hundreds of radios in my 55 years of repairing them. I
find Heathkit's alignment information very difficult if not sometimes
impossible to do. Close the book and do the following....it works every
time for me:

Close the tuning capacitor and tune the coil for the low frequency end of
the band. Open the tuning capacitor and tune the small trimmer capacitor
(sometimes built into the Gang) for the high end of the band, then go a
little farther in the same direction. Close the capacitor and reset the
coil, go a little farther in the same direction. Keep this up until you
walk the frequencies into place. If this doesn't work, look for a
defective component, physical short/open, wired wrong, etc. Good luck and
Merry Christmas.
