Restore HW8

the hw-8 is a CW only QRP transceiver that covers 80, 40, 20 and 15 meters.

it utilizes a direct conversion receiver. transmit power is about 2 watts
give or take

it's built on one large pc board with a very small audio board tacked to the
side of the cabinet.

heath used a zillion switching diodes to select the different bands. if you
have an hw-8 that does not work on one band, be it transmit or rec you can
bet the farm its a switching diode problem.

the HW-8 is built using left over parts. the HFO coils as well as the HFO
crystals can be stolen from a broken HW-101...

Main problem to look out for besides the switching diode problem is the main
tuning capacitor being run into its stops and pulling the plates out of
itself. A rather unfixable problem without a replacement VFO capacitor.
