Unbuilt Kit Mania

It just keeps on getting better and better! Last year I was fortunate to
purchase two unbuilt Heathkit VTVMs for approximately $150.00 each
through internet auction. I thought this was a fair and reasonable
price, and represented very good value. Now an unbuilt Heathkit VTVM is
going for over $600.00! And the bidding is not over yet. As more people
discover auctions, the price of these precious unbuilt kits is going up.
Hey, going from $150.00 to $600.00 in one year is an increase of 200%.
Not a bad return on my investment!

Here is another example. One year ago I purchased a few unbuilt tube AM
radio kits(Greymark, etc). Price was approximately $40.00.Again, I
thought this was a good price and good value. Now an unbuilt AM tube
radio just went for over $200.00. That is an over 200% increase. And
these kits are not even Heathkits! So, unbuilt anything is going up as
more people discover unbuilt kits at the internet auctions.

This actually applies to anything of value on the internet auctions.
Another example, NOS tubes have gone up over 100% over the past year at
the internet auctions.

Supply and demand at work. Don't tell anybody about internet auctions -
talking leads to escalation of prices!:-)
