Hello All,
Thanks to all who responded to my question on using an antenna tuner with the older rigs. I apologize for opening the can of worms concerning the stability of the T-150's VFO. It looks like I've got my work cut out for me even after I get it on the air : ( Oh well, guess it all goes with the territory.
As far as the difference between the T-150 and the T-150A, the only thing I can see is shielding between the actual VFO components, the main tuning capacitor, slug tuned coils etc. and the 12BY7 VFO tube, which is also shielded. There is also a large mica capacitor across the plate load capacitor, although I don't know if this was a modification by the original owner or by the factory. Maybe the 150A will be more stable than the original 150. I can only hope, from the horror stories I've heard so far.
Thanks,
Carl KA5KAB
