Saving Pennies

Fuses were probably left out of the secondary winding of power transformers in tube
equipment for the same reason several radio manufacturers these days place no diode
protection in the FET front end to protect against static electricity damage from
external antennas connected to the EXT jack - cost. Save two cents here and two cents
there over a large production run, then the savings can be huge. Unfortunately, the user
has to live with the result of this bean counting.
