Hello Folks,

My name is John, and I am in Indianapolis, IN. I remember my father
assembling a kit in the mid 60's when I was a kid (don't as me what it was, I
was young. I am only 43).

Anyway, I have a question (dilemma?). I have just purchased 2 handheld R/T's,
that I was told were Heathkit. They are both CB (I assume. The crystal is
27.008MHz), all metal cabinet, red button for PTT switch. I saw another one
at the same auction where I bought these that also had a leather case to
cover the back. My doesn't have the leather case. There are 4 transistors in
them. One is R424, one is 2N185, and 2 are 2N1108. When you press the PTT
switch, you can hear the thing key (only it's own. You can't hear it in the
other one.), but no transmission or reception to or from the other R/T. The
ON/OFF/VOLUME switch is a 10k pot with the ON/OFF switch attached, and the
knob is a big, black knob about 2 inches across.

Does anyone have any idea what I have here? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

TIA

John in Indy
