that I've managed to damage several of the tuning slugs along the way, and it becomes a real mess. It was suggested by a friend that I ask here to see if anyone's got any ideas where to begin troubleshooting. I found, upon initial application of power, that this rig went into transmit. That
problem was resolved quickly by connecting missing wires on the vox delay and vox gain. Now, it appears like I've got reasonable power on 80, but nothing anywhere else. I can't even get enough meter deflection to begin alignment. Anyone know where to locate the slugs? And, once they're found
and replaced, anyone got a clue where to start looking?

Your first challenge on the HW-101 is to REMOVE the damaged
slugs. That may or may not be possible. So, then you are l;ooking
at finding some scavenged i.f .cans from a dead parts unit.

I would suggest that you get a scope and look at the crystal
oscillator using each band position and compare with your 80m
output. Then follow to the mixer and particularly look at the
bandswitch wiring. It sounds like something is wrong in the
bandswitch, but of course without seeing it orgetting some more
information it's hard to say.

Does the local oscillator have the correct output signal amplitude
and frequency for each band?

If you don't have a counter for it, you can listen on a nother receiver
that has general coverage.

What sort of tools and test equipment do you have to work with
there?
